Are 'office guys' dumb?
1:00 pm - Thursday, November 29, 2007
Are 'office guys' dumb? You know, those Raffles Place type - long-sleeved shirts, flat-front pants. Ofc, where they work is not confined to just Raffles Place lah..
No doubt it's suave dressing up for work, but what I noticed abt them is their penchant for putting, or rather stuffing, their nice flat-front pants with their wallet, handphone(s?) and what not. The bulges are such an eyesore!
And talking abt wallets, and this applies to both sexes - what's with those big, bulging wallets? Once in a while, spring clean ur wallets lah. Throw those unnecessary receipts, slips of paper and whatever..!
G2000 pants costs an average of $49-69, and more so for those luxury brands eg Hugo, Zegna, Burberry etc.. After blowing big bucks for those pants, which usually skim the legs, they stuff all their belongings into them. Don't they know that the bulging stretches the materials, hence spoiling their nice pants?

The day after
12:31 am
Now that there are TWO holes, at the bottom of my left AND right gums, eating's such a sore. Food particles get stuck in them. Have to use the syringe and bent needle thingy to flush them out after meals. Putting me off eating. And I love to eat. Urggh!
Getting used to chewing with my left side. Not as good at it compared to with my right, but getting there. Like I said earlier, I have to. No choice. Haha!
I wonder, what'll happen to the holes? Will it cover up, somehow? Or will it stay, gaping like that? I certainly hope not!
I'm so looking forward to the time when I'm completely healed. I wonder how long that will take. :)

Wisdom tooth extraction 2.0
11:19 pm - Monday, November 26, 2007
The extraction today went well. There was a lot more drilling for the bottom right tooth, as compared to the bottom left one. In fact, I could even hear the tooth crack! Ouch!
It was quite easier for the right top tooth. Unlike the last extraction, there was no holding down of my mouth by the surgeon, as she pulled out my tooth. There was no feeling of the tooth breaking apart.
Back at home, the pain was more bearable. I already knew what to expect and what to do.

Initial swelling.

The first gauze. Bloody indeed.

The teeth extracted. The bottom one broken into more pieces.

Two weeks on..
11:10 am
.. and I'm still chewing using the right side of my mouth. It used to feel funny chewing using only one side, but I'm getting used to it. I have to lah, actually. No choice. Haha!
Today is the day for the extraction for my right side. I wonder how it's gonna be. As painful as, or lesser as the last 2 weeks? And also, even when I haven't extract any wisdom teeth, I chew mostly using my right side. So that's no issue currently. But what abt when I've extracted the right side, and have to chew using my left? I guess it'd be even a more funnier feeling chewing using my left..

ARMS
11:55 pm - Saturday, November 24, 2007
Went to ARMS earlier on in the day. It was 2PDF Family Day. ARMS stands for ARmy Museum of Singapore. Quite a lot of buzz and hoo-ha the place created in the papers when it was ready, so was quite excited to go there.
How was it? Interesting, I'd say. But the only exhibit I like was the IMT. Been a long time since I fired anything. Albeit a laser one.
Oh well.. So much for the hype.

Ghost town
6:28 pm
Was in camp for the whole of this week, save for Monday, as I was on leave. Boy was it a quiet moment indeed. It was like a ghost town! C & D was on their overseas training stint. E & F was gone early on Tue morning, coming back only on Thurs. I got to know where they went, but I'd better not say where. :)
Went back home everyday as there was nights out. Mum was making noise abt it, saying I'm wasting the money on the fare to and fro. But I'd rather do that than stay in camp, doing nothing!
Fri finally came today, and boy was I happy! Book out day! Haha! Asked abt going for Friday prayers, and OC gave the permission to do so. Best of all, I was told I could go home straight from prayers, as the RO was going to be given out at 1400! Was already outta camp by 1250. Sweet!
Kinda sad actually, as I was planning to go there in smart 4. Been a while since I did that, and it just feels diff to be in uniform when going for Fri prayers. Oh well, there's one more Fri where I'll be in camp, so maybe on that day then.

Stitch removal
7:44 pm - Monday, November 19, 2007
Went back to AH for the removal of the stitches for my wisdom tooth extraction. Managed to catch up with Kin Loong, the medic I got to know when I went for the extraction, as he was removing his too.
The dental officer was friendly, making small talk abt how Navy garrison sandals were much more nicer, being blue, compared to Army ones, which are green. Dunno why but I was being less than friendly towards his nice gesture. Felt bad. Haha!
The stitch removal was done in a snap. Just a simple procedure. Was given this syringe and bent needle, to be used for removing food particles stuck in the cavity left by the extracted bottom left tooth. Nifty thing. Never seen anything like it before.
Eating at McD's at Queensway with KL, I rec'd a call from the COS. Was told that I had to come back to camp tonight. Wasn't on leave for tml, which I was sure I am. Bummer!

The syringe and bent needle thingy.

Wisdom tooth extraction
10:43 pm - Wednesday, November 14, 2007
Went for my wisdom tooth extraction yest. Was waiting for this day. For some reasons best known. Haha..!
After registering and all the paperwork, was taking a seat and reading the day's papers when a certain someone asked if I was still in NS. After some small talk, we found out that we both were medics. He's from Seletar Camp. How nice.
When I was in the 'operating theatre' (it is day surgery after all, right?), I was told that my left side will be a bit of a challenge. Cos the bottom needs a lot of drilling, and as for the top, the roots were divergent, so a lot of force will be used.
I was given the choice of going under either local or general anaesthesia for the extraction. For general, I'd be asleep, and ALL four tooth would be extracted. For local, my left side would be extracted first. I chose the latter. For reasons best known. Hehe..!
On hindsight, I'm glad I chose what I chose. If I had chosen to extract all 4, how am I going to eat? As it is, chewing using only my right side is already weird enuf!
When I was lying on the bed in the OT, my face was shielded. Only my mouth was exposed. I knew that it is to maintain sterility, just forgot what the name is. Sterility aside, I think NOT seeing the tools used in the extraction was another use for the shield!
My gums were applied this certain smthg. Was told that this would numb the gums in preparation for the anaesthesia. DIDN'T. WORK. AT. ALL! IT HURTS when my gums were injected with the anaesthetic! Deja vu of the time I went for my filling. Only worst!
True enuf, there was a fair bit of drilling for the bottom. I could hear the hissing of the drill and what not. From what I could see, which was very little, as my face was shielded, there was quite a lot of blood. This I could see from the suctioning device.
As for the top, a lot of force indeed was used. The surgeon actually held down my mouth and pulled the top tooth. I could feel the tooth breaking apart! As she had said, the roots were divergent. Ouch!
When the ordeal was over, my gums and lips were swollen. It's a funny feeling, as only the left was swollen and the right wasn't. Kinda lopsided. So glad it's done. Just waiting for the 26th, when I'll be extracting my right side. :)

My dental X-ray. See the divergent root on the upper left.

Immediately after the extraction. Starting to swell.

Lips too were swollen.

This is as far as I could go when opening my mouth.

A few minutes after. Quite obvious the swelling, no?

The gauze I was biting on. Quite bloody. And this is the second one. Imagine the first?

The teeth extracted. My guess is that the one that's still whole is the upper one.

Salam Lebaran 07
2:44 pm - Sunday, November 04, 2007
The Perjumpaan Hari Raya 07 for MA was not bad I think. The food served was great, since it was at Sakura International Buffet Restaurant. That being said, is the double edged sword. Since the food was buffet style, what I noticed was that those who came were more focused on the food, and not on what was going on. Last yr's at Furama was better I think. Food serving wise. Oh well. All's been said and done.

Glam & Glitz
1:52 am - Saturday, November 03, 2007
While it was called Glam & Glitz, I feel there was nothing really glamourous nor glitzy abt the ORD function/dinner at Riverview Hotel. The food served, while not bad, wasn't really gourmet. Not smthg I'd expected dining at a hotel. Not all justified the $100 paid! To say substandard would be an understatement, I think!
The entertainment was typical of an ORD function, I would say. Girls dancing ard. I think the only saving grace of the event were the comperes. Forgot their names lah.. But they really saved the night with their wit and humour.

Filling!
6:12 pm - Thursday, November 01, 2007
Just had my filling done at AH just now.
Sitting at the dental chair brought back memories of being in the school dental clinic in primary school. Back then I detested having my name being called. On one hand, I hate having to go there. Ofc, on the other hand, it means taking a short break from lessons. Hehe..
The process sure hurt like hell! My tooth was drilled. Then injected. Spot injecion, on the gums! Ouch! It was excrutiatingly painful I tell you! I could feel the hole when the drilling was over. Felt funny. Gaping. And let's not forget the numbness from the injection. The area was slightly swollen, and I couldn't open my mouth normally. Was told I should now go for scaling. Urgh! Hopefully, that WON'T hurt as much.
