It was a tiring but fun first day of Hari Raya Eid for me this yr.
First up in de morning was helping out for de Muhammadiyah solat raya at Toa Payoh stadium. Was supposed to sleep at Pusat de night b4, but due to some miscommunication, never did go there. Slept at home instead. Thing is, I overslept lah. Haha! But did made my way there in de end, thou a bit late. As usual, set up de place. And by that, it meant putting up those blue plastic thingies. Rolls and rolls of them, which are duly discarded after one use only. A waste really, but it doesn't make sense to clean and keep it for use another time. Cos there'll be a logistical headache as to where to keep it. Sigh..
I was somehow made de official photographer of the event. I had a great time going ard and snapping, as compared to doing de tabung rounds. Ofc both roles have its importance lah, but I just find taking photos more fun. Imho, I took nice pics lah, but as it isn't my cam, I nvr got to see it uploaded to a computer. Pics look diff on digicams as compared to looking it on a computer. I hope de guys up there are happy with my pics, and find some pics suitable for publication on Tajdid. Hehe..
De clearing up of de stadium only ended at 11+, and when I was at Toa Payoh central, I realised I had forgotten to take my red baju kurong. So I made my way back to de stadium. Met with Qai, who told me he didn't see any red baju kurong. So alas, it was in vain. But somehow losing that didn't matter much to me thou, cos that baju costed me only $10, as it was only de top. Heh.
Back home, it was helping my mum to entertain de guests. Topping up of de kuih-muih, serving drinks, going down time and again to Sheng Siong cos not enuf chicken for chicken rice, an uncle asking me to buy for him cigs, cos his ran out blah blah blah. My mum's de eldest, and since de passing of both my maternal grandparents, every1 comes to my place on de first day of Raya. It's quite sad, cos I miss those times when on de first day, every1 including myself, would gather at my maternal grandmother's place, and de atmosphere would be so jovial and joyful. De first was Bik Wati and family, and after they left, de guests kept coming and streaming in. Abg Ipar's family came too. So it was like so kecoh lah seh. Which ofc, was fun lah. It's like as if de jovial and joyful atmosphere being at my maternal grandparent's, but de only diff was that it's at my place.
At night, I followed Cik Oli and family in his car to Yai Dol's place. Since my maternal grandma has passed away, Yai Dol is de next eldest, so every1 would go to his place, after mine. It was nice to at least go to ONE place on de first day of Raya, and not just be stuck at home.
So yeah.. that's how it was for de first day of Raya this yr. Tiring, cos of entertaining de guests, but fun, cos of getting to meet cousins.
